Search instructions
- Type the word or words you want to search for into the field.
- Don't put in any commas or quotes. It doesn't matter if you use upper or lower case. Then press Return or the Search Archive button.
- If your search keyword has an accented letter, then you should put in the accent.
- The search will look for files with all your search words in unless you type or between them.
- You can look for prefixes by adding a * at the end. e.g. integrat* will find integration, integrated, integrating, etc.
- You can look for events in a particular decade by typing, say, 180* for the decade from 1800 to 1809 (as well as occurrences of 180).
- Once you have searched you will be given the option of searching again withthe context displayed. i.e. to see where your selection occurs in each file.
- You can choose to search only parts of the archive by pressing the Advanced Search link
- As an alternative you can use Google to search various parts of the
archive. Just click on that button.
