General Meeting Minutes for 1995

A General Meeting of the British Mathematical Colloquium was held in Lecture Theatre 4, Heriot-Watt University at 7.30 pm on Tuesday 4 April 1995.
  1. The minutes of the AGM of the 46th BMC, held at Cardiff, were accepted.
  2. Matters arising.
The introduction of Special Sessions seemed to have been a success. The improvement in the number of participants begun at Cardiff had continued for the present colloquium. Another factor relevant to this increase in numbers was the generous support received from the London Mathematical Society for the support of postgraduate students.

The provisional dates for the 49th BMC to be held at Royal Holloway College, University of London were 14-17 April 1997.
  3. Accounts of 46th BMC at Cardiff.
    These were accepted.
  4. Invitations for future Colloquia. Invitations were offered by:

J B Paris for the 50th BMC in 1998 to be held at Manchester University

J Renshaw for the 51st BMC in 1999 to be held at Southampton University.

Both of these invitations were warmly accepted by the meeting.
  5. Election of Honorary Auditors.
The treasurers of the Edinburgh and London Mathematical Societies were re-elected (proposed by P M Neumann, seconded by A. Camina).
  6. Election of additional member of Scientific Committee.
Professor H G Dales was elected.
  7. Any other business.
    None.
The meeting closed at 7.40 pm.

Minutes signed by A R Prince, Secretary 47th BMC (undated).
